Commercial Motor Carrying is a highly regulated industry. Motor Carriers must comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations [FMCSR], a set of laws which govern almost every aspect of commercial operations.  The State of Illinois has adopted the FMCSR's into its vehicle code and violation of the FMCSR is a felony offense. 

Most lawyers think of commercial motor vehicle collisions like passenger car crashes, which is 100% WRONG! Drivers [even contractors] may have workman compensation rights, and it is illegal for any shipper, broker, or transportation intermediary to coerce a driver to violate safety rules. A true transportation attorney knows these rules inside and out.
